Central Football Officials
Growing up in Wethersfield, Rich Kureczka
played high school and college football, and
later did a stint with the semi-pro New
England Crusaders. He had a tryout with the
New York Giants, before turning his time and
talents to another aspect of the game,
officiating. For the last 29 years, Kureczka has
donned the stripes and worked all over the
CCC as well as other leagues serviced by the
Central Connecticut Approved Football
Officials.
A 28-year veteran of the Hartford Fire Dept.,
Rich worked his craft as an official, and found
time to coach local youth teams, where he
mentored his daughters’ softball teams and
son’s baseball team, and do community
service work. Married to his wife, Angela for
30 years, the couple has three children,
Kristin, Nikki, and Kyle.
Since his entrance into the ranks of the
CCFOA, Kureczka has shown himself to be a
go-to guy when things need to be done. A
long time member of the Board of Directors,
he was elected president of the group in 2008.
He has served on the Past-Presidents
Committee, Banquet Committee, Mechanics
and Assignment committees as well as several
administrative posts on the board, including
Better Officiating, Evaluations, By-laws
Nominating and Policies and Procedures. He
worked for six years as one of the three reps
for the board on the CFOA.
He is a past recipient of the Vin Reilly Award
for service to the CCFOA, and won a plaque of
recognition from the West Harford Midgets for
10 years of service.
He has worked many top games for the board,
and been assigned to nine playoff games as
well as work two Connecticut-Rhode Island
All-Star games.
